Check Positive Pay
Check Positive Pay is a fraud protection service provided by BayVanguard Bank which you can enroll in to deter check fraud. You let us know information about every check you write, and we compare checks presented for payment to the information you’ve given us. If it matches, we pay the checks. If it doesn’t match, we mark it as an exception, and you decide whether or not we pay it. You must tell us by 4 p.m. Eastern Time whether to pay or return the checks. If we don’t receive a decision by the cutoff time, we’ll pay the checks.
Payee Match: By selecting the Payee Match option within Positive Pay, compare the payee names in addition to the standard check number and amount fields, providing even stronger protection. For best results using Payee Match, we recommend you follow the guidance under the header Payee Matching Guidelines within Digital Banking User Guide – Positive Pay to avoid readability issues and minimize the number of exception items.
Teller Positive Pay: Teller Positive Pay is automatically included with Positive Pay. Teller Positive Pay identifies potentially fraudulent, altered, or counterfeit check items presented at BayVanguard branches by comparing them in real-time with the Positive Pay register file. If the information does not match, the check will not be cashed.
Reverse Positive Pay: “Reverse Positive Pay” is a way of utilizing the Positive Pay service in which you do not let us know information about every check you write and therefore all checks are marked as exceptions. You review all checks and tell us by 4 p.m. Eastern Time if we should pay or return the checks. If we don’t receive a decision by the cutoff time, we’ll pay the checks. With Reverse Positive Pay we will not cash check items presented at BayVanguard branches because they will not match the Positive Pay register file.
ACH Positive Pay

Allow List: Trusted sources can be added to the Allow List (Whitelist) based on their Company Name and ID. ACH transactions matching a company on the Allow List will then be filtered against your Block List and Watch List. Users can determine how to manage ACH transaction that don’t match a company on the Allow List.
Block List: Users can create a Block List based on the Standard Entry Class (SEC) Code, Company ID, or Transaction Criteria. ACH Transactions that match criteria on the Block List will be listed as an exception item and rejected unless you authorize the transaction by 11am EST.
Watch List: Users can create a Watch List based on the Standard Entry Class (SEC) Code, Company ID, or Transaction Criteria. ACH transactions that match criteria on the Watch List will automatically generate a notification message to assigned email addresses. These transactions will be listed as an exception item and paid unless you reject the transaction by 11am EST, or they also meet the blocking criteria of another filter.
